The Birth of Reshine Organisation: From Compassion to Action

Reshine Organisation’s journey shows how much can be done when kindness leads to action. What started as a small response to one person’s suffering has now helped thousands of people. Reshine’s strong dedication to feeding the hungry has made it a symbol of hope, strength, and care.

As the organization continues to grow and help even more people, it stays true to its values of love, service, and community. There is still a lot to do, but Reshine has already proven that a better and fairer world is possible when we all work together to help those in need.

The Beginning: A Moment of Realization

In the small, vibrant town of Bidar, a simple but life-altering event took place that would spark the foundation of one of the region’s most impactful organizations—Reshine Organisation. One day, a young man named Rohan Kumar witnessed a group of children rummaging through a dustbin near the railway station, desperately searching for food. As they scavenged through discarded waste, pulling out half-eaten scraps and stale food, Rohan felt a profound sense of discomfort. The stark contrast between the food wasted by society and the plight of the starving children moved him deeply.

It was at this moment that the idea for Reshine Organisation was born. Rohan couldn’t turn a blind eye to the suffering he had witnessed. He reflected on the immense amounts of food being wasted daily in his community, especially after large weddings, parties, and events, and how this waste could instead be redirected to the hungry and homeless. This wasn’t just about food—it was about human dignity. Rohan resolved to find a solution to this problem, and what began as an individual calling quickly transformed into a collective movement.

The First Steps: From Idea to Action

Rohan shared his vision with a close-knit group of friends: Kartik Allure, Stephen Paul, Sachin Kencha, Shuruf Ahmed, Shoaib Uddin, Franklin, Sagar Patil, and Puttaraj. These individuals, driven by the same desire to make a positive impact, joined hands with Rohan. They realized that their community had the resources to help those in need, but it lacked a structured way of doing so. Together, they sought to bridge the gap between surplus food and the hungry mouths that needed it.

Initially, the team faced several logistical challenges. They had no dedicated vehicle, limited resources, and a lack of public awareness about their cause. However, none of this deterred them. They rented an auto-rickshaw, reached out to marriage halls and hotels, and collected leftover food from events. With sheer determination, they packed the food in individual portions and distributed it to the homeless and hungry across the city.

Their first food distribution drive was a small but powerful step towards a larger mission. The group found immense satisfaction in their work, as the grateful smiles of those they helped reinforced their belief that they were on the right path. What began as a simple act of kindness quickly gained momentum. Word spread, and soon, more people were offering food and support for the cause.

The Turning Point: A Growing Movement

As Reshine Organisation’s efforts grew, so did the scale of their operations. The group’s dedication began to capture the attention of the local community. Recognizing the immense potential of their work, prominent figures like Jagannath Reddy and RTO officer Jafar Siddiq came forward to support the cause. They generously donated a Maruti Omni vehicle, naming it in honor of Reddy’s daughter, Bhagyashree. This vehicle became a lifeline for the organization, allowing them to transport larger quantities of food and reach more people across Bidar and its surrounding areas.

This marked a significant turning point in Reshine’s journey. With increased mobility and visibility, the organization could now expand its food distribution efforts, visiting more events, collecting more surplus food, and feeding more people. What started as a small, volunteer-led initiative now had the infrastructure to operate on a larger scale. The team’s commitment to eradicating hunger in Bidar became more structured, organized, and efficient.

The Mission: Reducing Food Waste, Feeding the Hungry

At the core of Reshine Organisation’s mission is a simple yet powerful idea: “No food should go to waste while people go hungry.” This mission drives every aspect of the organization’s work. The problem of food waste is not unique to Bidar—it is a global issue. In India alone, it is estimated that 40% of the food produced goes to waste, while millions of people face food insecurity daily. Reshine Organisation seeks to combat this by connecting excess food with those who need it the most.

The team recognized early on that their work was not just about feeding people; it was about preserving human dignity. Many of those who receive food through Reshine Organisation’s efforts are not beggars or vagrants but ordinary people—laborers, daily wage earners, or patients in hospitals—who have fallen on hard times. By providing them with a meal, Reshine is not just filling their stomachs but also offering them hope, respect, and compassion.

Expanding Horizons: Beyond Food Distribution

While food distribution remained Reshine’s primary focus, the organization quickly realized that the problems faced by the underprivileged in Bidar were multifaceted. Hunger was just one symptom of a larger issue—poverty. To truly make a difference, Reshine began expanding its operations to address other pressing needs in the community.

The team started organizing tree-planting drives, raising awareness about environmental sustainability, and promoting initiatives that would improve the overall well-being of the community. The idea was simple: If they could encourage people to care for the environment, they could build a healthier, more resilient society. Reshine also started distributing saplings to those who contributed food, symbolizing the connection between nourishing people and nourishing the planet.

In addition to their environmental work, Reshine Organisation began exploring ways to support education, health, and social welfare. They partnered with local schools, hospitals, and other NGOs to provide a holistic approach to community development. From donating books and educational materials to providing medical aid and counseling services, Reshine Organisation’s impact began to extend far beyond just food distribution.

Community Engagement: Building a Network of Support

One of the most important aspects of Reshine Organisation’s success has been its ability to engage the community. From the beginning, Rohan and his team understood that they could not achieve their mission alone. They needed the support of local businesses, individuals, and volunteers to make a lasting impact. Over the years, Reshine has built a strong network of partners who contribute time, resources, and expertise to the cause.

The organization’s community-driven approach has been instrumental in its growth. Local hotels, restaurants, and marriage halls regularly donate surplus food, while volunteers help with the collection, packaging, and distribution. Social media has also played a crucial role in raising awareness and mobilizing support. Through consistent outreach efforts, Reshine has cultivated a loyal following of supporters who are passionate about fighting hunger and reducing food waste.

Reshine Organisation also hosts regular events and campaigns to engage the public and raise awareness about its work. These events not only help raise funds but also provide an opportunity for people to learn more about the importance of food security and sustainable living. Whether through charity runs, tree-planting drives, or food donation drives, Reshine actively involves the community in its mission to create a hunger-free Bidar.

Reshine’s Impact: A Legacy of Compassion

Since its inception, Reshine Organisation has made a tangible difference in the lives of countless individuals and families. One of the organization’s most impactful initiatives has been its daily food distribution at the BRIMS Government Hospital in Bidar. Since 2017, Reshine has been providing meals to patients and their families, many of whom travel from rural areas to receive treatment. These families often face financial hardships, and the cost of food can add to their burdens.

By providing two meals a day—one in the morning and one in the evening—Reshine has been able to save these families approximately Rs 100 per person per day. Over the course of seven years (till April 2024), the organization has distributed food for more than 1,100 days, serving 600 people daily. This equates to Rs 60,000 worth of food distributed each day, amounting to an astonishing Rs 6.6 crore (Rs 60 million) worth of food provided at just one location.

But Reshine’s impact goes beyond numbers. The organization has not only fed the hungry but also restored dignity to those who receive its help. Through its compassionate approach, Reshine has become a beacon of hope for the most vulnerable members of society. The organization’s success stories, like the rescue of over 80 migrant workers stranded on railway tracks during the COVID-19 lockdown, are a testament to its unwavering commitment to serving humanity.

The Road Ahead: Future Plans and Vision

As Reshine Organisation continues to grow, its vision remains clear: to create a world where no one goes hungry, and no food is wasted. The team is constantly exploring new ways to expand its operations and reach more people in need. Plans are underway to scale up food distribution efforts to cover more hospitals, schools, and slums in Bidar and beyond.
Reshine is also committed to deepening its impact in the areas of education, health, and environmental sustainability.

The organization aims to launch new programs that provide long-term solutions to poverty, such as vocational training for youth, healthcare services for the elderly, and environmental conservation projects. By addressing the root causes of hunger and poverty, Reshine hopes to create a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
