Md. Jahangir worked tirelessly to provide for his family of seven members. As a construction laborer, his daily earnings were modest but crucial. One day, while on the job, Jahangir met with a horrific accident. A fall from height caused severe injuries, and he tragically lost both his legs.
For Jahangir and his family, the aftermath was overwhelming. Suddenly, their only breadwinner was unable to work. The family not only lost their source of income but also faced emotional trauma and uncertainty about the future.
Reshine Organisation Intervenes: Advocacy Beyond Aid
When the news of Jahangir’s accident reached Reshine Organisation, the team knew that medical aid alone wouldn’t be enough. His case needed urgent attention—and a long-term solution.
Rather than limiting support to short-term charity, Reshine escalated Jahangir’s situation to the state’s “Janata Darshana” program, a public grievance forum headed by the then Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy.

A Turning Point: Financial Compensation Announced
In July 2019, as a result of this intervention, the state announced a compensation of ₹2 lakhs for Jahangir’s family. The funds were transferred without delay, giving the family immediate financial relief. For a household struggling to afford even basic needs, this compensation brought critical breathing room and an opportunity to plan for a sustainable future.
